In addition to the target component of potassium chloride, the ore contains impurities – clay sludge. The problem is that their presence in the ore reduces the degree of extraction of potassium chloride, so the ore must be cleaned of sludge. For this, special reagents are used – flocculants, which help separate sylvinite from impurities. Scientists from Perm Polytechnic University have found that ultrasonic treatment of flocculant increases the degree of sludge extraction to 63 percent.
