'Brine' and 'ice slush' named as possible sources of material in geysers on Enceladus

Two hypotheses compete: either from the moon’s global subsurface ocean, or it occurs due to friction between the “tiger stripes” – four cracks noticed on the satellite’s surface. A new thermodynamic model by planetologists, based on the behavior of seawater and glaciers, has shown a new probable source of material for geysers – a zone where water exists in two states of aggregation.
