Russian scientists have found out what happens to our body in a standing position

Not only do many muscles work to hold the body upright, the nervous system also functions intensively (compare how much easier it is to maintain balance on a moving bicycle than on a stationary one). There are two different strategies for maintaining a posture; intuitively, a person prefers one of them, depending on his inherent cognitive style – field dependence or field independence. Scientists from the Pavlov Institute of Physiology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, working with electrical stimulation of the spinal cord, conducted research that will help find out how important this division is in the rehabilitation of people with spinal cord injuries.
