In order for it to burn well, it must be thoroughly mixed with air. Heating helps to do this faster and more efficiently. This is especially important when using lean mixtures, in which there is more air than fuel, which may cause it to burn incompletely and the engine will work worse. However, existing heating methods lead to emissions of carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide, which in large quantities are harmful to human health and the environment. Scientists from Perm Polytechnic University have studied the processes that occur when heating fuel gas and have found that it is better to do this before the engine combustion chamber – this will reduce the emission of harmful substances by 24 percent for carbon monoxide.
